Simple Chili

When Rick and I started dating in high school one of the first things we cooked and created together was our own chili recipe. Neither of us like chunky tomatoes and we didn't want to put a ton of ingredients into our chili that we probably wouldn't even taste. Soooo for our chili we kept it simple as can be and boy is it delicious!!!

What You Need:

> 1 to 2 packs ground beef (depending on how much meat you want)

> Smooth marinara sauce

> 4 to 5 cans of beans (We usually do 2 cans of chili beans, 1 can kidney beans, and 1 can pinto beans)

> 1 packet McCormick mild chili seasoning and/or 1 packet McCormick hot chili seasoning

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 2 hours

Directions:

To begin brown your ground beef and drain off any fat. Pour the browned beef into a crockpot. Next, open your cans of beans and drain out the liquid inside EXCEPT if you are using chili beans. If you are using chili beans don't drain the liquid because the liquid inside is seasoned and adds a great flavor to your dish. Add all of your beans into the crockpot and mix them together with the beef. Once the beans and beef are mixed together stir in your jar of marinara sauce. Now everything you need for the chili is mixed together and how you want to proceed is up to you.

1. If you want a mild chili just add in the bag of mild chili seasoning.

2. If you want a chili that is between mild and hot add half the mild seasoning packet and half of the hot seasoning packet.

3. If you want a hot chili just add in the bag of hot chili seasoning.

Stir in the seasoning and cover the crockpot. Cook on low for two hours, stirring on occasion.

This chili reheats really well and freezes well so feel free to eat up any leftovers or save them for later. But I doubt you'll have any left cause once you try this chili you'll want to eat it all!!!

***Tip***

Use leftovers over nachos and top with sour cream and cheese for a tasty late night snack
